Crozier Brings Mark Titchner's Vision to Life at Hellesdon Hospital
Hospital Rooms envisions a new world where abundant and meaningful creative opportunities are readily accessible to people with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses, and where mental health hospital environments are inventive cultural spaces offering solace, comfort and dignity. Since 2016, Hospital Rooms has undertaken a number of acclaimed, museum-quality projects, completed in some of the most challenging mental health settings.
“This amazing project has brought so much happiness. It has been a real champion in people’s recovery” - NHS staff member
About the project
Over the last year, Hospital Rooms have been working in Norwich to commission 15 major new museum-quality artworks and lead 70 art workshops for the new Rivers Centre mental health services in Norwich. They’re working with artists including Errol Francis, Fabian Peake, Ghislaine Leung, Heather Phillipson, Michael Landy, and Nengi Omuku among others.
As part of the charity’s three year partnership with Hauser & Wirth, Mark Titchner worked with patients and staff to create a large-scale mural work including the words “Like there is hope and I can dream of another world,” which featured in an exhibition at the gallery in 2022.
Following an exhibition in London, the work was transported to Bank Plain in Norwich, where it was exhibited at Norwich University of the Arts whilst the new-build hospital was under construction.
How did Crozier help?
Between 9 and 12th September 2024, Crozier led a complex project to de-install the work at Bank Plain, transport it to the Rivers Centre hospital site, and re-install the work in situ at the entrance of the new hospital.
Our partnership with Hospital Rooms to install Mark Titchner’s artwork at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich demonstrates our commitment to supporting charitable art initiatives. We look forward to the unveiling of this landmark Hospital Rooms project in early 2025.
The results
Crozier is proud to have played a role in the transformation of Hellesdon Hospital, ensuring that Mark Titchener's artworks were expertly installed to enhance the patient experience.
“Normally my hours feel like days but being here my hours feel like minutes. I feel a sense of euphoria!” - says patient.
